Getting to know me a little

My name is Andrew

I have been working as a counsellor for in excess of 6 years I qualified from the University of Hertfordshire with an Master of Arts in Contemporary Psychodynamic Counselling in 2011.

What I consider to be the most important aspect of the counselling is the therapeutic relationship. This is where we can work together to collaborate to understand what is going on for you.

I have worked with people for a short period of time 12 weeks and also for an extended period of time however it is important to say  that I believe that you as the client have complete control over how short or long a period of time you would ant to work with me.

It is my aim to provide you with a space in which you feel “safe enough” to be able to take the risks and to allow your feelings out and to think about them with me in a non judgmental and contained way.

I believe that by talking to someone who is not “part of your life” is a uniquely freeing experience it will allow you to express how you feel without the concern that it will get back to the other person or that you will be judged for your feelings.  I believe that it is vital to be able to be honest about your feelings that way you can understand and accept them as being a part of you rather than some part of you that needs to hidden away.

I only work with adult individuals.

I am registered with then BACP and am bound by their code of ethics.

I have public liability insurance
